Modeling and Simulation of Berthing Processes for a Panamanian Container Terminal using BPMN and Discrete Event Simulation

چکیده
This study presents the development of a decision support tool for a container terminal in Panama, located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal. The rapid growth of containerized cargo movement in international terminals in the country has also increased the complexity in strategic and tactical decision making, affecting operational decisions as well. Therefore, the Business Process Modeling methodology is proposed as a tool to support the identification and visualization of the processes associated with container ships and participants in this process, followed by a discrete event simulation that generates the main performance indicators for this process area. The current model or "As is" model can result in "to be" or optimization models.

Simulation of container operations in the marshaling yard – case study: Aprin station
In this project, an attempt has been made to investigate the loading/unloading operations for container loads on a at the Aprin station with a simulation approach. Simulation is an approximate imitation of the operation of a process or system whose performance is examined over time. In this study, Aprin station was selected as the largest railway station for container transport in Iran. To find...

This paper, considers Network Failure Manufacturing System (NFPMS) and production control policy of unreliable multi-machines, multi-products with perishable items. The production control policy is based on the Hedging Point Policy (HPP). The important point in the simulation of this system is assumed that the customers who receive perishable item are placed in priority queue of the customers w...

متن کاملOptimal design of supply chain network under uncertainty environment using hybrid analytical and simulation modeling approach
Models that aim to optimize the design of supply chain networks have gained more interest in the supply chain literature. Mixed-integer linear programming and discrete-event simulation are widely used for such an optimization problem. We present a hybrid approach to support decisions for supply chain network design using a combination of analytical and discrete-event simulation models. The prop...
